Terms of Use

Ingredient Checker summarises what regulators and published research say about food ingredients. It is a research tool, not a medical service.

Nothing here is medical, nutritional, or professional advice, and nothing here diagnoses, treats or prevents any condition. It cannot tell you whether an ingredient is safe for you specifically. Allergies, intolerances, medications, pregnancy and medical conditions are conversations for a qualified clinician. Never delay or disregard professional medical advice because of something you read here.

If you are having a medical emergency, call your local emergency number.

Answers are generated in part by an automated language model working from our database. Automated systems make mistakes, regulatory positions change, and product formulations change without notice. Coverage is limited to the ingredients and products in our database and is not exhaustive.

We do not warrant that any answer is accurate, complete, current or fit for a particular purpose. Always check the product label and consult a professional before relying on anything here for a decision about your health.

Ingredient names, brands and products are referenced for identification and research. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any brand mentioned.

You must be at least 13 years old, and old enough to form a binding contract where you live, to create an account. You are responsible for activity under your account and for keeping your sign-in secure.

Linking a phone number requires proving you control it. Do not link a number that is not yours.

Texting our number opts you in to replies and service messages such as verification codes. Reply STOP to stop, or HELP for help. Message and data rates may apply, and frequency depends on your usage. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

Reading reports on the site is free. Asking the assistant questions requires a subscription of $4 per month, charged through Stripe.

• Subscriptions renew automatically each month until you cancel.
• You can cancel any time from your account. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for; access continues until then.
• Payments are not refundable except where the law requires it. We do not pro-rate partial months.
• We may change the price on notice. A price change never applies to a period you have already paid for.
• If a payment fails, we may suspend the assistant until it is resolved.

You agree not to:

• scrape, bulk-download or systematically copy the reports, or use them to build a competing dataset;
• resell, sublicense or redistribute answers as your own product;
• present output as medical advice to anyone else, or use it to make decisions for another person's health;
• attempt to breach, overload or probe the service, its rate limits or its authentication;
• use the service unlawfully, or to harass anyone.

We may suspend or terminate an account that breaks these rules, or that we reasonably believe is causing harm.

The site, the reports, the underlying database and the Iggy name and branding are ours or our licensors'. You get a personal, non-exclusive, revocable licence to use the service for your own research. Citing or linking to a report is welcome; wholesale copying is not.

The service depends on third parties including OpenAI, Stripe, Clerk, Telnyx, Twilio, Supabase, Vercel and Railway, and the ChatGPT app runs inside a platform we do not control. Their outages, changes or acts are not within our control, and your use of ChatGPT is governed by OpenAI's own terms.

The service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, secure or error-free.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Grove Hill Research will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, goodwill, or for personal injury or health outcomes arising from your use of or reliance on the service.

Our total liability for any claim relating to the service will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or twenty-five US dollars.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions, so parts of this section may not apply to you. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

You agree to indemnify and hold Grove Hill Research harmless from claims and costs arising out of your use of the service, your breach of these terms, or your violation of anyone's rights.

You may stop using the service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end access if you breach these terms or if we discontinue the service. Sections that by their nature should survive — including disclaimers, limitation of liability and indemnification — do.

These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, United States, without regard to its conflict of laws rules. The courts located in Massachusetts will have exclusive jurisdiction, and you consent to their jurisdiction.

We may update these terms; the effective date above will change, and continued use after an update means you accept it. If a change is material, we will make reasonable efforts to tell you.
