Origin

Peas (Pisum sativum L.) are one of humanity’s oldest crops across the Mediterranean and Near East. The tough outer skin (the hull) is separated during splitting into ‘split peas’; that hull, once a milling by-product, became a commercial ‘pea hull fiber’ after modern dry milling and air-classification equipment made it possible to concentrate insoluble fiber for use in breads, cereals, snacks, and nutrition bars.
